Innocence

I had just gotten off the train from my work, and now I was standing outside of the station, waiting for my bus in the freezing cold. I wasn't overreacting; it was really cold. I was wearing a thick winter coat and gloves, but I wished I would have remembered to bring a scarf or something, because I could feel my face starting to hurt slightly from the cold wind.

Looking around the crowd, I still caught myself checking whether anyone was looking at me. But no one was. It was amazing how perfectly well I blended in these days. When I had first transitioned I had dyed my hair platinum blond, wanting to look as appealing as possible. But quickly, with some help from my friends, I'd realized that unfortunately that colour made me look like a mix between a bad barbie doll and a transsexual porn star. In other words, it didn't do much for me. A combination of dying my hair a warm colour of brown and dressing better now made me look like a rather attractive business woman (which suited my job well). It was almost too normal for my tastes, but I blended into a crowd perfectly, which was what I wanted, in the end.

As I looked around out of boredom some more, I noticed someone who was looking at me. It was a girl who didn't look older than about eighteen, and she looked away immediately when she saw me looking. For a moment my old habit of thinking she was 'onto me' came back, but I quickly realized this could never be the case. I looked at her again, curious, and when I saw she was looking at me again, I smiled at her. Her cheeks turned redder than they had already been from the cold, and she looked away once again.

The girl had strawberry blond hair that was pulled back in a loose ponytail. Some strands of her hair were too short to fit in it, and were hanging around her face in a casual way. She was wearing a long, black coat to protect her from the cold, and red gloves and an evenly red scarf. Her face was slightly freckled, and her nose and cheeks were red from the cold. She was pretty, in a cute, naive kind of way.
